Evata designs another arena in Russia
Evata have been appointed as the Architect for the new multipurpose arena in Magnitogorsk, Russian Federation. This is the second arena which Evata will design for a Russian Star League Club. The other one is the new multipurpose arena in the City of Kazan, southeast of Moscow. Kazan Arena has been opened this autumn and received as an important event in the 1000 years celebrations of the city.
The city of Magnitogorsk is located next to Ural Mountains, widely considered as the edge of Europe. The main user of the new arena will l be the "Metallurg Magnitogorsk" ice hockey club, which came in third position in the 2004 season standing in the Russian Super League
The project is a new step in the ongoing modernization of the Magnitogorsk facilities, located in the future sports park area, with the aim of reaching the highest international standards and in its drive to attract new audience and players from around the world. The arena is planned as a mid-sized one with 7500 seats including suites and restaurant with direct views to the arena level. The total area of the facility will be 25 000 sq-m. The facility will be designed as a multi-purpose arena in order to enable setups for different events, such as other indoor sports and concert events. The completion of the project is set for September 2006, just before the beginning of the 2006-07 ice hockey season.
