Workplace of the Future: A workplace seminar held in Stockholm
Arnoldhuset, workplace seminar, April 21, 2005. Evata Worldwide and Steelcase held a workplace seminar in Stockholm for local facility managers.
The seminar featured two keynote speakers, Kimmo Setkänen from Evata Worldwide Ltd. and Oliver Ronald from Steelcase Inc.
Mr. Setkänen gave a summary of today’s trends and requirements for the future workplace. In addition to agility and flexibility, the balance between space efficiency and workplace effectiveness, i.e. the extent to which the workplace facilitates work processes, will remain an important factor in measuring workplace performance in the future. Effectiveness is after all one of the most powerful tools when putting money on the bottom line. Cutting down space costs only takes you so far.
Oliver Ronald pointed out that workplace effectiveness has been previously intangible. Nowadays, however, there are various ways of measuring how the workplace can make people more effective in their everyday work. You should ask, for example, how well it supports the following:

Several facility and project managers participated in the seminar.
In conclusion, a cost efficient but yet creative and human-centered workplace will mean higher company profitability in the knowledge economy.
Results from the Evata Workplace Survey 2004 show that the functionality of the workspaces is the most important category of criteria besides location.
