New service concept used in Romania

To set up a new manufacturing utility in a foreign country is a major effort requiring local knowledge and cooperation between architects, engineers and project management. The new service concept of Pöyry Group, combining Evata’s and Pöyry’s experience of Romanian projects, gives a good start to the building of Hansaprint and Elanders new production unit.

The Hansaprint and Elanders plan is a joint strategic establishment of operations in Romania, targeting customers in the sectors of automotive industry, publishing and consumer electronics. The design for this production facility, to be built in the Romanian city of Cluj-Napoca, is on going and is expected to be completed in the summer of 2008.

Services comprise of feasibility studies, environmental studies and permitting, architectural design, structural engineering, HVAC & electrical engineering and construction management. This new concept assisits the client from the very beginning throughout the entire process.

Vesa Olkkola, Managing Director of Evata Finland sees the international experience of Evata as a major factor in getting this project. Olkkola explains “Evata has notable track record in designing large industrial parks and special economic zones. In addition, we have previously worked in Romania and particularly in the Cluj-Napoca region, which will be an advantage in completing this project successfully“.

Timo Kankuri, Director of Pöyry Real Estate & Telecommunications division, regards the project as an excellent example of how the cooperation between Pöyry companies bears the fruit in a completely new manner. “The client is able to select one responsible partner, with whom it is easy to communicate. Furthermore, the close cooperation of the Pöyry companies ensures that there are no grey zones of responsibility and the communication between designers is fluent. As a result, “traditional” errors can be avoided and we can meet the requirements of tight schedules”, Kankuri sums up.
